Since early times, Chinese acrobats have entertained audiences ranging from the poorest of peasants to mighty emperors. The Golden Dragon Acrobats continue this tradition that began twenty-five centuries ago in a performance the whole family will enjoy 7:30pm, Friday, October 19 at Shryock Auditorium.  

The company hails from Cangzhou, Hebei province, in the People’s Republic of China. The 25 acrobats are athletes, actors and artists and are recognized throughout the United States and abroad as today’s premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company. This year marks their 29th anniversary of performing before audiences in all 50 states and in over 65 countries around the world.

Southern Illinois’s premiere fine arts facility is please to announce a return of a very popular service and the expansion of a current service. Shryock Auditorium’s box office is now open daily noon until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Checks and money orders will be accepted payable to SIUC. The box office also accepts all major credit cards including MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express.

In addition, Shryock Auditorium is pleased to announce a new concessions area. Patrons can enjoy a wide range of beverages and snacks before evening performances and during intermission. The concessions area expands into a snack bar 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday for SIUC faculty, students and staff.

The Auditorium has added other touches to make its patron’s and the general public’s overall experience more enjoyable. This includes a renovation of the upstairs lobby featuring a photo gallery of works provided by graduate students from the SIUC Cinema and Photography Department. The Auditorium has also purchased new furniture and plants to give the Auditorium a more aesthetically pleasing look.
